Your current musical inspiration? I would have to say Janelle Monae, at the moment, because she is very sure of who she is as an individual but does not allow society to categorize her. She dances to the beat of her own drum, she is educated and aware, she is conscious yet free to be wild. She is a front man, a leader, and head of her own, flourishing record label. She is a visionary, she is an individual, and she is a phenomenal artist and woman- a true inspiration to me, personally, as a female independent artist.

How would you describe your fashion style? Describing my fashion style is actually quite difficult because I feel like my style is so flexible to my mood. As I am growing as an artist and individual, I find that, slowly but surely, I'm shedding the seasonal fashion trends and societal "cool kid must-haves". I think fashion and style must, first, come from being comfortable in your own skin - originating in self-love. Whether is be marley twists and door-knockers, to turtle necks and pearls, to mini skirts and platforms, to dad hats and sneakers.. I just want to feel comfortable in my own skin, that's where my style comes from.

The biggest challenge you face in pursuing your musical career? I think the biggest challenge I face right now is just having so much on my plate at once. I'm extremely ambitious, so I feel like I have to learn how to prioritize and manage my time and energy more efficiently. Juggling writing, booking, promotion, leading a band, rehearsals, and all the components of being an artist, alongside all of the component of being a 21 year old such as school, work, family, spirituality, relationships, sleep... it's a lot to balance! So I'm learning how to look outside of focusing solely on myself and looking at the big picture, looking at where I want to be and the steps that I need to take to get there, but most importantly, looking at where I am now and being thankful for the present.

What's the best advice you could give a new and upcoming artist? The best advice I could give to a new and upcoming artists is to be present. Being present means being thankful for the here and now, realizing how far you've come and knowing you have so much more room to grow. Being present means appreciating the people who surround and support you, breathing, and not taking this moment for granted. It's so easy to get stressed out about how much further there is to go, what this or that person is doing, are you cool enough or good enough? Be present and grow where you are planted, don't tear yourself down or compare yourself to others, find yourself and love her-- i guess it all comes back to self-love!
